About the CAF
It all began with a single plane....a P-51 Mustang
purchased by a group of ex-U.S. service pilots in 1957.
Today, the CAF, headquartered in Midland, Texas, has approximately 9,000 members worldwide and a fleet of 150 planes from World War II and other military conflicts, with close to 100 of these planes being in flying condition.
The CAF Heart of America Wing is fortunate to be located in the heart of the Olathe Naval Air Station (now New Century AirCenter), commissioned in 1942 as the primary training facility for U.S. Navy pilots during World War II.
Our fully-restored WWII trainers, a Fairchild PT-19 and a Boeing Stearman PT-13, live and fly where their counterparts did in the 1940s.
The CAF is a 501(c)3 non-profit educational association.
Proceeds from ticket sales, rides, and silent auctions go to support our community education programs and to keep our vintage military aircraft in flying condition.
